Testimony Tuesday: Series Introduction

Testimony-Tuesday

This article introduces my latest content endeavours here at XBOP, and over time, will serve as the landing page/contents for all articles within this Writing Serial.

As a believer in Christ, the concept of a testimony is simply a story where God has played a role that is deemed worthy of sharing. The Good News (Gospel) itself is worth sharing, not just because it is a commandment from God/Jesus, but because, we in having received the Gospel, recognise that sharing God’s love is an act of love in itself.

Now over the years, I have to confess that I have not lived a life which is jam-packed full of testimonies. I take this position partly in humility, because I have seen and heard others who live a life that overflows with weekly stories of how God is working in their lives. That is not to say that God is not working in my life – but that perhaps because I rely on Him so much that it all becomes one life-long testimony.

Storms & Choices

I think our perspective and attitude plays a huge role in determining whether we recognise God working and moving in our lives. For example, what one person attributes to God in the form of a testimony can sometimes be second-guessed and downplayed by other people who choose not to recognise God at work. I believe it is our choice and the attitude that drives this choice which can sometimes block our ability to perceive God and His presence.

In reading the following testimonies, ask yourself – is there a message here from God for yourself? How would you choose to see God work in a similar situation (or not)? How can you use these testimonies to encourage others and point them to God? Ultimately, all testimonies are about God – they should give Him the glory and honour, demonstrating that we choose Him above our own lives and will.
