reflections of camp

[Post migrated from LiveJournal]

I know… I should’ve done this sooner… but I’ve been, well, y’know… busy!

And yeah, I did digress with two posts on the before and after camp…

Camp proper:

Friday night: the arrival & settling in

the drive down was quite enjoyable… three passengers in the car… a full load…
the stand out memory was the bridge bit… Julz and Max holding their breath from speed sign to speed sign. I felt cheeky… and wanted to slow down more… (but I didn’t…)

We got to camp around 8pm. About 1/3 the ppl had arrived…

We, the FOCUS music team had our “moment on stage”… I couldn’t hear myself, but I knew God could…
Voice wasn’t fully there… probably ‘cos of the long day… I definitely felt that I was pushing it for Great & Mighty…

I dunno… I love those rock songs, with the huge beat, but some of them aren’t easy to sing… and personally, shouting/yelling is not really singing… I think that opinion has its roots in the fact that I started off on the piano…

Back to camp…

The first message was from Ps Paul. I remember more of Anita’s take on leprosy now… and how Jesus healing leprosy makes him a chemical agent…

I didn’t eat on Friday night… stayed up ’til 3am-ish…
And that’s mainly ‘cos of the noisy Youth in the room next door…

Saturday

7am start to the morning with prayer…
8am brekky… love the whole Vegemite @ camp thing…
strange: I used to hate Vegemite… now I love it! go figure!
late morning free time > music practice for Sunday morning

The arvo was spent doing the following:
1. canoeing with AJ
2. giant swing (helped out as well as experienced it)
3. flying fox (filming with AJ & Phoebs)
4. swimming

‘cos I kept moving, I avoided getting majorly sunburnt!

evening session & dinner was a time of blessing.
The Vow of Silence was very appropriate and helpful.
Apparently, I was talking in my sleep… O_o

Sunday

The baptisms, especially Ben’s testimony were key moments from God.
Worship & the morning session were Spirit-led moments…
During the message, I felt the call to revisit and complete the lyrics to the song. I also felt the title “Follow” was appropriate.

Lunch was interesting… I achieved something I hadn’t expected to achieve… I managed to catch up with Kit, who I had been wanting to catch up with for a while. AJ & I concluded filming bits and pieces of the camp, including interviews with each Pastor and our new Church Administrator.

During a free moment in the morning, we had filmed footage of entering the camp and driving around the site. I can’t wait to see how the edits turn out…

For the drive home, my passengers changed… Max and Julz went with other ppl, while I gave Derek and Dave a ride home…

The Take Away

I have a new song in my heart
I’m following You Lord… all of my days…
Stronger relationships with various individuals

[This has taken me the whole night to write… in between MSN chats, phone calls, etc…]

Good night for now!
Nic =)
